Government plans ‘I stand by my country’ campaign

On the occasion of  twin celebration of 75th anniversary of the Quit India movement and the 70th Independence Day.

Theme: ‘I stand by my country’

Aim : Portray an India which is “bold and decisive, can secure its future, is on the path of reforms, and that cares” 

The Quit India Movement, also known as the August Movement was a Civil Disobedience Movement launched by Gandhi for independence. The movement was accompanied by a mass protest on non-violent lines, in which Gandhi called for “an orderly British withdrawal from India”.

RBI notified the MPC and Monetary Policy Process Regulations, 2016


  1. Members will be paid Rs. 1.5 lakh per meeting along with air travel and other reimbursements.
  2. observe a “silent period” of seven days before and after the rate decision for “utmost confidentiality”
  3. One vote system.In case of conflict. Governor will have casting vote.
  4. Meeting should be 4 times in a year.
  5. All members should declare their assets.

About MPC (Monetary Policy Committee) – Six-member MPC was constituted in September 2016. Out of six members govt. Will nominate three except the govt. Officials. Other three members will be from RBI including Governor and deputy governor. Governor will serve as the chairman of the committee. The MPC will serve for 4 years and not eligible for reappointment.  They will decide through the vote and Governor do not enjoy the veto power.

  • Ensure land ownership for SC/STs and establish SC/ST land bank

Earlier similar Declaration was adopted by Madhya Pradesh in 2002. The Bhopal Declaration that called for “liberalisation of capital for Dalits” was adopted in 2002 during the tenure of Congress leader Digvijaya Singh in Madhya Pradesh.
